The Rotunda Hospital Annual Report 2022

Over the span of seven years, the Master of the Rotunda Hospital Dublin consistently recognised and prioritised the role of design in shaping the narrative of their annual reports. Collaboration between the Master and the creative team each year resulted in a series of reports, each infused with a distinctive look yet ultimately appearing as part of a suite marking the Master’s tenure.

2023 marked the final year of the Master’s tenure, and so, a particular emphasis was placed on the design of the 2022 Rotunda Hospital Annual Report to not only capture the achievements of the hospital, but also to serve as a tribute to the departing Master. From a design standpoint, our goal was to encapsulate the evolving visual language cultivated over the previous six reports, distilling it into an impactful design that would bookend the suite of seven reports and mark the significance of design in narrating the hospital's journey.

Photography consistently played an important role in shaping the annual report, serving as a means to encapsulate the vibrancy and everyday life within the hospital. Following seven years capturing moments involving the staff, mothers, and babies of the Rotunda, an exhibition was curated to align with both the 2022 Annual Report and the Rotunda Hospital's annual fundraising event. This exhibition showcased the creative work crafted by the design team and it allowed us to underline the profound impact of design on the hospital's narrative and mission.
