The National Observatory on Violence Against Women is an independent network of grassroots and national organisations that come together quarterly to monitor progress on male violence against women in Ireland. We facilitated a process of creative exploration with the Observatory to imagine a new identity for this important project. Visual research referenced the fluid movements of the Observatory’s work as they face evolving challenges of men’s violence and new media environments.
The resolved logo design harnesses the concept of murmurations to echo the processes of the Observatory as their members come together to positively shape the landscape around violence against women in Ireland. The identity is constructed so that individual elements can combined in any number of ways to create new patterns and tapestries. This flexible system allows a wide palette for designers while retaining a powerful consistency across the Observatory’s publications.
