QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) is the state agency responsible for promoting the quality, integrity and reputation of Ireland’s further and higher education system. Since 2021, our team have collaborated with QQI on a number of projects, thus building a good working relationship and a deep understanding of their brand and values.
In 2022, QQI approached us to collaborate on developing a new visual identity, aiming to position their brand within a contemporary context. We understood that their existing brand faced challenges in maintaining visual coherence across important documents, and overall, it lacked the desired vibrancy and depth. Guided by these insights, the main objective was to inject energy into the brand, all the while preserving the professional, informed, and positive tone of voice synonymous with QQI.
Our design approach involved the creation of a new logo, a vibrant colour palette, and complementary graphics, all designed to be lively and dynamic. The new logo originated from the idea that learners and educators in Ireland are at the core of QQI's endeavours. The figurative integration of the 'i' into the logo visually encapsulates this concept. As QQI engages with numerous further and higher-level institutes, the interwoven shapes within the logo symbolise the institution's dynamic connections and collaborative spirit. This design language was also extended into a new visual system developed to differentiate their many report styles.
Depending on the target audience for any given output, from significant reports to promotional event banners, the visual language can be intensified to bring more impact where desired. Diverse compositions of graphic shapes, complemented by photography if needed, not only provide the rebrand with enduring appeal but also facilitate the creation of a broad spectrum of outputs with a thoughtful approach.
