In 2008, Not in Alphabetical Order was published to provide a snapshot of work from Fingal County Council’s Municipal Art Collection. The title related to the responsive way in which an art collection had developed in Fingal, and spoke to a broad range of relationships. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the collection, Fingal Arts Office commissioned a second volume of the same name, which highlights a selection of their most recent acquisitions.
Not in Alphabetical Order – Volume 2 (publication and launch) was one of a number of events and commissions (to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fingal County Council’s Municipal Art Collection) that included Estuary, an exhibition at Draíocht, Blanchardstown; an outdoor poster campaign; branded notebooks, pencils and tote bags and two greeting card collections.
Not in Alphabetical Order – Volume 2 (publication) closely followed the editorial concept and structure of the initial volume, while updating the visual and typographic treatments. Similarly, the format/dimensions of the initial volume (240 x 300mm) were retained and a limited edition slipcase (to hold both volumes) was produced.
The title typography was laser-cut out of 1.3mm stainless steel plates, professionally lit and photographed. Supporting the distinctive display typeface, a special/custom mix, vibrant Red ink was used across all collateral/applications.
