In medieval times, Dublin and Ireland were lands of mystery, uncertainty, and danger. People turned to magic for a sense of control over these unpredictable forces. The Mystic Dublin exhibition at Dublinia explores the connections between ancient mystic Dublin and the present day.

The exhibition identity was inspired by typographic and illustrative material found in Medieval manuscripts, it references the rich history of the content while having a contemporary feel. Each section of the exhibition is represented by an illustration, drawn from an artefact on display. It was important for the exhibition to have a strong visual identity distinct from the permanent visitor experience at while also sitting comfortably alongside the Dublinia brand.

The colour palette was developed with the exhibition space in mind. The neutral background stands out from the dark wooden floor and timber beams while providing good contrast for the interpretive content. Strong colour blocks and large title banners clearly mark the four sections of the exhibition, guiding the visitor through its themes.

The central rag tree installation encourages visitors to add their own stories and beliefs about magic and superstition.
