In designing Lemoncello’s eponymous debut album for Claddagh Records, we created artwork centred on Ellius Grace’s striking photography of Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella. Building on the portrait, we created a sun-like radial structure behind the duo, adding visual depth that complements their diverse musical influences spanning Irish folk, indie pop, jazz, and classical traditions.
The design maintains a delicate balance between traditional and contemporary elements, mirroring Lemoncello’s approach to their music. The vinyl and CD formats required different technical considerations, but we maintained visual consistency across both formats. The sun-like motif creates a sense of warmth that complements the intimate nature of their songwriting and performance style.
The typography and layout were carefully considered to complement the photography without overshadowing the central image. This approach creates a cohesive visual identity that honours both the duo’s rootedness in Irish musical tradition and their willingness to push creative boundaries through experimental song structures and genre-blending compositions.
