Keep It Country Stamp Series

An Post commissioned us to design a series of stamps honouring five iconic and much loved Irish Country Singers. By focusing on the visual vernacular created by letterpress printing, we were able to combine references to posters created for community events in rural Ireland with the rich visual history of the American country music that influenced its Irish counterparts.

Inspired by the likes of Nashville’s Hatch Show Print and their work for Music City’s beloved Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry during the genre's golden era, we utilised a mixture of period appropriate typefaces, gradients, and textures to create a faithful homage in celebration of Irish country music. By representing the Irish honourees with this style, the aim was to elevate these musicians to the ranks occupied by the genre’s biggest icons. In addition to the five stamps themselves, we designed the booklet, first day cover and cancellation stamp.
