Renaissance man Barry Sheehan asked us to develop an identity and website which celebrates the life and works of James Joyce and promotes the discovery of Dublin through running and reading. It showcases a plethora of journeys across the winding cobbled streets of the capital, from Glasnevin to Glasthule, Skerries to Sandycove, referencing Joyce’s works along the way.
The word marque consists of a series of weighted strokes and dotted lines which nod to the cartographic marks used to track the routes. While early twentieth century newspapers, books and advertisements informed our type selection, this was contrasted by a vibrant and varied colour palette reflecting the contemporary nature of Barry’s writing.
