Irish Rugby Football Union 150th Anniversary Stamps

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Irish Rugby, we collaborated with An Post to design a two-stamp series that honours the sport’s legacy while embracing its future. Careful consideration was given to player selection, ensuring a balance between professional and youth players, highlighting not just the iconic figures but also those who contribute to the game at all levels.

The design takes inspiration from the rugby pitch itself, using field markings to craft custom typography for ‘IRFU 150.’ This title was spread across the two stamps, creating a dynamic connection between them while reinforcing the sense of movement and continuity in the sport. To elevate the design, we incorporated Pantone Fluorescent Green, a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Irish green, bringing vibrancy and energy to the composition.

The result is a bold yet considered tribute, encapsulating Irish rugby’s heritage, inclusivity, and enduring spirit in a striking and modern design.
