2015 was our fourth year designing for the Irish Film Board’s print material and exhibition spaces. We wanted to evolve the ongoing theme and still retain the overall consistency which had worked so well. From the concept of light in film, we moved to screen. Using colours that have a nod to RGB, we created a series of patterns inspired by pixels. We wanted to achieve a sense of motion, in static print and environmental pieces. These abstract patterns formed the background to the central characters, the films themselves.
We reworked the original typography to more angular grids and introduced a gold foil echoing the glitz synonymous with the film industry. The outcome is a very graphic look which varies depending on the context, creating cut-through and impact in the chaotic world of film festivals.
All shots were taken on location at Cannes Film Festival 2015.
