Mexico and Ireland celebrated the fortieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2015. The Embassy of Ireland in Mexico and the Embassy of Mexico in Ireland outlined an extensive programme of events to take place over the course of the year to strengthen cooperation, promote trade, academic and investment partnerships and to share artistic and cultural exchanges to the benefit of both countries.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade commissioned us to create an identity to mark the anniversary. We created a clean and contemporary logotype in shades of green – a nod to both national flags. The distinctive linear letterforms are open ended and suggest interaction and a cross over between the two nations, with the letter ‘o’ functioning as a zero.
