The Irish premiere of Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin. The play, set in the 60s, asks the question—what does the abolition of the death penalty mean for the last Hangmen in England?
We wanted to avoid imagery that was too dark. So an ambiguity is introduced—caught in the moment, is the man falling; collapsing; being lifted? Who is really condemned?
Through it all, the typography is falling. And look at the noose on that lower case ‘g’.
