Newbridge House is one of the jewels in Fingal County Council crown and the collection at Newbridge House is a treasure trove which has much to teach us about how the locals of the past lived, worked, collected and curated their lives. Guest – at Newbridge House is an engagement programme launched in 2021, where a selection of contemporary art curators are invited as a Guest, to take inspiration from the collections at the house and animate them for the visitor in exciting and challenging ways.
We were asked to create an identity for the Guest programme as well as an accompanying printed legacy piece for the inaugural exhibition New considerations of familiar settings, curated by Marysia Więckiewicz Carroll, and held at the house in September 2021. Inspired by the peculiarity of individual features, objects and the handcrafted work of artisans in Newbridge House, the identity uses an elegant and ornate typeface to demonstrate to a contemporary audience the concept of being curious, unusual, and one-of-a-kind.
