We were asked to create the brand name and identity for a new fusion Asian restaurant located in the recently renovated Cliff Townhouse building on St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin. The name is in reference to the fantastical, over-sized tropical garden wallpaper by Christian Lacroix, which forms the centrepiece of the space with it’s drama and flamboyance. It’s also a nod to its proximity to the park itself and the many flora and fauna growing there.
The identity design involved developing a unique logotype for Floritz suggesting opulence, with expressive letterforms and typographic nuances, complementing the whimsical style of the surreal interiors.
A secondary graphic asset is formed from a repetition of 2s of the no.22 address set in a circular shape, evoking an oriental tone and paying tribute to the culinary influences on offer. This 22 forms the basis for the pattern, designed in a manner that is subliminal and luxe.
Menu covers reference hues within the wallpaper, changing from delicate pastel to a more intense colour as the reflection of light changes. A holographic foil logotype adds an effervescent layer, transitioning from soft gold hues through to hot or cool metallic flares. Custom signage and menu box carry the decadent feel to the exterior, while also sitting respectfully against the Georgian façade.
