Each one started, each one started, each one started, is a reader of Christopher Steenson’s slide projection–based artwork The Long Grass (2022–24), which appeared in Ormston House as part of the exhibition The Sky is Falling!, from 13 September–16 November 2024.

We designed this reader, which draws together phrases and moments around the topic of the corncrake, a bird that has taken on symbolic meaning in relation to Irish independence. The reader is an accompaniment to the slide projection work, and acts as a manual aid that delves into the sources of the slides in more detail. Alternating paper stock across text and image pages, the publication is wiro-bound and produced as a hand-numbered edition of 100.
