The design for the campaign identity and assets for Dublin Theatre Festival 2024, built upon the festival’s legacy of bringing together exceptional Irish and international theatre works. The 2024 programme featured over 30 productions, from world premieres of new Irish work to acclaimed international performances, exploring contemporary themes from the personal to the global.
Expanding on the concentric line motifs used in our 2023 campaign, our 2024 campaign design reflected the festival’s role as a space for collective reflection and celebration in turbulent times. Drawing inspiration from the themes of solidarity and shared experience, we created a visual identity that resonates with both the intimate nature of live theatre and its power to address global issues. The design system unified the festival’s diverse programming, which spans stories about family, identity, migration, climate, colonial legacies, and conflict resolution.
We maintained the strong city-wide presence while introducing fluorescent pink as a striking accent colour for the printed materials, including the festival brochure. The campaign extended across Dublin’s transport network with dynamic digital displays at Luas stops, Dublin buses, airport screens, train stations, and an animation on the Samuel Beckett Bridge. Our motion graphics centred around the signature split-screen transition that mimics the opening of theatre curtains, revealing glimpses of performance while building anticipation for live theatre experiences.
The campaign extended across multiple platforms throughout Dublin city, creating a strong visual presence that emphasised the festival’s position as a vital cultural moment where Irish theatre makers are at their most ambitious, and international works find their place in Dublin’s rich theatrical landscape. Our design approach creates a cohesive visual language that speaks to both the festival’s contemporary relevance and its tradition of artistic excellence.
