Identity and print design for Dublin Art Book Fair 2018.
An established feature of the annual gallery programme at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, the eighth edition of Dublin Art Book Fair featured a curated selection of hundreds of books from Irish and international independent publishers as well as artists’ and architects’ books and those about visual art, architecture, visual culture and theory, poetry and select fiction.
It was guest curated by architectural and cultural historian Dr. Ellen Rowley, with the theme of Art and Architecture: Uncovering Libraries and Collections, highlighting the importance of libraries in our lives.
The visual identity for the fair took inspiration from the marbled endpapers of books in old collections, playing on the idea of a book being literally uncovered as it is opened, to reveal them.
The identity uses Prophet designed by Dinamo Typefaces. With its 45° cuts, it was chosen to complement the form of the TBG+S logo.
A 6pp roll-fold programme, large-scale posters, a bookmark, tote bag and a big, tasty cake were all produced for the fair.
