The cover for McHugh's debut book of short stories needed to reflect the tone of the author's writing, his voice and the complex characters which feature within the book. This textural, type driven approach is a response to these stories, alluring the viewer and inviting them to interact with the pages underneath. Printed on uncoated stock using a single pantone + K.
As described by Marc Sinclair for Creative Review: 'There’s something of a pint of beer-like feel to this one, but it’s the condensed and shadowed letters themselves – containing whorls of handprints and earthy textures – that suggest stranger things may lie within.'
