‘Corca Dhuibhne’ is a display typeface designed for the West Kerry Museum. It is used throughout the exhibition headings, signage, publications and in the new identity. Named after the local area, it is primarily inspired by the rugged landscape and artefacts of the Dingle Peninsula. The starting point for the typeface was the old schoolhouse sign which is situated on the façade of the building. The letterforms are informed by the abundant examples of stone carvings found in the region with West Kerry having the highest density of ogham stones in the world. Two weights were developed to distinguish between Irish and English text throughout the museum.
