The most pressing challenges of our time won’t be solved by any one person or organization alone. But while everyone can agree on the importance of collaboration, there’s no formula for guaranteeing its success. This is why Accenture’s Human Sciences Studio, Unreasonable Group and Barclays set out to explore what makes or breaks a collaboration.
Armed with in-depth primary and secondary research, we have created an exhibition that explores our findings in an engaging, playful way. The experience aims at helping visitors better understand their own collaboration challenges while equipping them with practical tips and tricks from organizational and behavioral psychology.
Firstly, visitors are prompted to explore their own collaboration journeys, mapping the arc of progress along emotional beats. As inspiration, they can listen in on secret collaboration confessions via a classic phone booth. They progress to a snappy, tongue-in-cheek self-assessment test, determining whether they have trust issues, are misaligned, have poor communication, or lack governance. Finally, a provocative artefact, aligned to each potential problem area, provides food for thought on how to approach their collaborators going forward.
An accompanying brochure not only delivers a take-away collection of psychological insights, its design is an emblem of the experience as a whole: allowing collaborators to view the same image through different lenses, symbolic and real, and find meaning together.
