Album design for the jazz, rock, and medieval music group Anakronos.
In Boccaccio’s 14th-century masterpiece The Decameron, 10 people flee Florence from the Black Death to build a fortress of songs and stories in the countryside.
The design uses 10 colours throughout to represent the storytellers. The cover composition, like the citadel itself, is one of connection and protection. It reflects The Decameron, with elements woven together, wrapping, supporting—creating something greater than the sum of its parts.
The individual letters of ANAKRONOS appear in each colour block, but only in detail. Like the songs we focus on small glimpses. This is the minutiae of life; humanity in reconstructed fragments of time.
