"All of the songs on the EP have themes of loss and nostalgia, things that I think most people can relate to. I guess it's about finding compassion, the emotions that come up when you notice a sudden distance between someone you were once very close to." - The Fae
The bloodrush EP is composed of songs written during a previous stage in the lives of the band - in their Blush era. The songs seek to explore feelings of nostalgia and how our relationships with each other change over time. Our memories are not often as reliable as we think - nor past events as discrete and simple.
The EP and single artworks represent the clash between the foggy, undefined edges of our memories versus the simplified, polar events that we often tell ourselves.
The single artwork and colour palette is inspired by blush palettes, the blood that rushes below the surface of our skin when a certain memory rears its head, and the rose tint that nostalgia places on the past - with the EP artwork a blending of all of these separate elements together.
Photos of the band complement the artwork by utilising the colour palette and forms that we've already seen and introducing the dreamy, ruminative mood of the songs.
A short film was produced to accompany the release of the Chloe single - documenting the feelings during the raw, fresh stages of a breakup and remembering better (and worse) times during a relationship.
