When is it time to act? Now? What about now? What can you do if you are the architects’ council of Europe?

‘Time to Act’ is the Architects’ Council of Europe’s 2024 European Election Manifesto. It is a succinct document and series of accompanying user friendly instructional sheets designed to promote and campaign for high-quality architecture and living environments for all.

The Manifesto details problems, data and possible solutions to the many challenges facing the architecture industry. Having co-written the manifesto, we embarked on creating a distinctive visual language to promote the aims of the Council.

The concept for the manifesto was to place one house on top of another, thus creating an architectural egg timer icon. Using an specialised model maker we created a large scale sculpture of the icon.

A series of images, films and animations were projected onto the sculpture highlighting the many issues and possibilities facing the industry. The printed Manifesto was design to designed to fit in your inside jacket pocket or handbag. The accompanying documents, created in both English and French, were designed using a strict layout system and colour coded for each thematic area of the manifesto.

An extensive social media campaign was designed including a humorous series of posts released in the run up to the European Elections with a life size version of the sculpture appearing in cities and towns across Europe.
