In collaboration with Design & Crafts Council Ireland, 100 Archive is thrilled to announce that we will be celebrating Irish Design Week 2024 with a lineup of inspiring visual communication designers on Friday, November 15th.
The theme of Irish Design Week 2024 is “Imagination for Opportunity” and is a chance for designers to showcase and highlight ideas and innovative solutions for the problems we face as an Island and globally. When asked by Design & Crafts Council Ireland who we might consider for an event with this theme in mind, it was obvious who our first choice would be!
Nikki Gonnissen and Thomas Widdershoven are co-founders and creative directors of Thonik, a multidisciplinary design studio based in Amsterdam. The team behind Thonik are leaders in the fields of graphic design and socially relevant design. Through strong visual identities for clients such as the broadcast corporation VPRO, Holland Festival, Museum and Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Power Station of Art in Shanghai, and M+ Museum for Visual Culture Hong Kong, Thonik connects important public institutions with a new, younger, and more diverse audience. Their work spans graphic, digital, and spatial design, often with the moving image as a starting point.
Their studio office, designed by co-founder Thomas Widdershoven, is an all-electric zero-emission building and was awarded Best Iconic Building 2020 by the Dutch Architecture Association.
We're honoured to consider Thonik friends of 100 Archive and we welcome you to join both Nikki Gonnissen and Thomas Widdershoven on November 15th at the Royal Irish Academy of Music where you can soak up their bold ideas, progressive approaches, and exemplary design.
But it doesn’t end there! We're also excited to announce that homegrown graphic designer Joanne Byrne will also participate in the evening as a speaker in Design Diplomacy—an intimate conversation between two creative minds.
Joanne is known for her expertise in interpretive design and storytelling within the built environment. With 20 years of industry experience, Joanne has successfully tackled projects across cultural, corporate, and heritage sectors.
You can peruse some of Joanne’s work on 100 Archive.
